TV Channel Cans Durban Gen

TV channel e.tv has decided to pull the plug on the popular TV show Durban Gen.

The show which is produced by Stained Glass Production premiered two years ago on the free to air channel and it is the fourth most-watched TV show amassing over 2.75 million viewers.

In a statement, e.tv confirmed that their star-studded TV show will be coming to an end next year in January.

“The decision to decommission the daily drama is part of a business strategy which includes the ongoing review of the on-air life-cycle of all our shows. “

“E.tv continues to look forward to fulfilling its mandate of producing exceptional and relevant local content, and the production has successfully achieved its part of the obligation throughout the past two years,” the statement reads.

Durban Gen is not the only TV show that has been recently muted forever, another TV show that is coming to an end is Mzansi Magic’s popular telenovela The Queen which is produced by Ferguson Films.

In a statement when they announced the abrupt end of the show, Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net said they would like to applaud the producers, cast, and crew of The Queen for their dedication to delivering riveting storylines and award-winning content in highly contested primetime slots and that they look forward to the thrills of the next 12 months as the production draws towards their finale.
