Bafana Bafana honoured the late Bafana coach Clive Barker’s memory with a 2-1 victory against Morocco at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. A Percy Tau-inspired own goal by the goalkeeper put South Africa on the lead with Zakhele Lepasa scoring the second goal. Celebrating the second goal, Lepasa did the famous Clive Barker celebration, flying around the touchline. We are happy for the boys!
We saw the return of rugby’s prodigal son Aphiwe Dyantyi, who just signed his first rugby contract with the Sharks after a four-year ban for illegal substances. Aphiwe is one of South Africa’ finest sportsmen who caused a storm in his debut season with the Springboks in 2018. We can’t wait to see him in action and back with the national team. He is an incredible athlete and the game is better with him back.
Mamelodi Sundowns number 23, Haashim Domingo is said to have left for Morocco to join three-time CAF Champions League winners Raja Club Athletic. SABC Sport reported earlier this month that Domingo and Sundowns could not agree on terms for a new deal which will then see the Cape Flats native leave the club at the end of June. He joined Sundowns in 2020 from Bidvest Wits.
Another sporting win, Siyabonga Ngezana has officially left Kaizer Chiefs for FCSB, in Romania. The 25-year old defender has signed a five-year contract with the European team, according to iDiski Times.
England’s Jude Bellingham has joined Real Madrid after a successful three years at Borussia Dortmund. Officially announced with a press conference yesterday, the sought-after defender is thrilled to be with “the greatest football team in the history of the game”. His younger brother Jobe also signed for Sunderland AFC from Birmingham City. A big week for the Bellinghams.
