Here’s what went down at the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards

After a two year hiatus, the DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards are back and they were are crowd puller.

The prestigious award ceremony that was hosted by seasoned TV presenter Lawrence Maleka, took place over the weekend at the Sun Arena in Pretoria and local celebrities came in numbers dressed in their best outfits. 

Besides the big wins for the evening which saw everyone’s favorite Makhadzi taking the biggest award of the night and actress Sana Mchunu taking home favorite actress for her role as Zodwa on Gomora, the crowd was entertained by the beautiful sounds of Kamo Mphela, Tuks Senganga, Nomfundo Moh and Zakes Bantwini who kept the audience dancing. 

Another notable award of the evening went to award-winning actor Dr John Kani who took home the Legend Award, when he was handed the award, the crowd was on their feet as the stalwart gave a dignified acceptance speech that left everyone inspired.

Speaking to Nounouche Magazine directly after the awards, Nyiko Shiburi, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa said they are happy about how the awards turned out. 

“Pulling this event together has been an exciting experience and it was all for a good cause: bringing South Africa together to celebrate and honour our entertainment greats,” she said.
