#WCW: Celebrating Amapiano’s Amazing Female Vocalists

The magnitude and impact of Amapiano cannot be denied. In fact, it is more than just a music genre. It is a lifestyle.

Alongside the distinctive lock-drum, beats and keys, there are amazing voices that form part of the many hits we enjoy and sing along to.

Female vocalists are undoubtedly worth celebrating, and their impact in the Amapiano space is worthy of much praise.

Here’s to celebrating some of the country’s best Amapiano vocalists:

Ami Faku
The talented Ami Faku reigns supreme as one of the genre’s top vocalists. In the Amapiano space, she
is known for hit songs such as ‘Abalele’ and ‘Asibe Happy’ where she worked alongside Kabza De Small.

She also had the masses singing along to her angelic voice on ‘Fatela’ where she collaborated with Aymos. Her vocal skills are nothing short of phenomenal and her talent has gained her much deserved recognition and praise.

Nkosazana Daughter
Young, beautiful and gifted…Nkosazana Daughter is a self-taught guitarist and vocalist who brings an
ethereal tone to Amapiano. She has collaborated with several big names including Kabza De Small and Musa Keys. She is also popularly known for hit songs such as ‘Umama Akekho’ where she worked alongside Sao Matrix, Dj Maphorisa and Mas Music. With a future that looks very bright, the Amapiano songstress continues to hold it down.

Boohle
The name ‘Boohle’ is very familiar to the ears of those who love and enjoy Amapiano. The female vocalist has been collaborating with various artists and is the voice behind some of the biggest songs which Amapiano has had to offer. These include ‘Siyathandana’ by Cassper Nyovest, as well as

‘Mama’ which was produced by Josiah De Disciple. The popular song ‘Hamba Wena’ which went viral on social media and had many partaking in a dance challenge also has her name on it. The star has gained the deserved recognition for her talent and hard work. Thus, she is a multi platinum selling musician and has also won several awards.

Sha Sha
It goes without saying that Sha Sha is one of the country’s most prominent musicians and a big name in the Amapiano scene. The BET award-winning singer stole the hearts of Amapiano lovers in 2019 and has since owned the scene with hits like ‘Tender Love’, ‘Love You Tonight’ and ‘eMcimbini’. She has worked alongside some of the country’s biggest names including Kabza De Small, Dj Maphorisa, MFR Souls and Samthing Soweto.

Lady Du
Lady Du deserves all the praise she gets and more. The talented Dj and vocalist has a voice that is both powerful and amazing. She’s known for her vocals on the hit song ‘Umsebenzi wethu’, and has also collaborated with artists such as Focalistic, JazziQ, DBN Gogo and Nigerian star Niniola. Her voice and work ethic are undeniably admirable. She continues to thrive as she lovingly shares her talent with music lovers.

Babalwa M
Dubbed the ‘queen of private school piano’, Babalwa M is a powerful voice and contributor to the Amapiano scene. Her gleaming vocals can be enjoyed on hits such as ‘Feza’ and ‘Aba’ngan Bami’ which she worked on alongside Kelvin Momo.
The star has also worked alongside other artists including De Mthuda and Sam Deep to create pure piano perfection. Babalwa M has been doing the most since day one, and it is satisfying to see her enjoy her moment in the musical sun.
