The 180th installment of the Soweto Derby delivered a thrilling spectacle filled with flair, flamboyance, and a plethora of goals as Orlando Pirates clashed with Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, March 9th.
In front of a packed stadium at FNB Stadium, the Buccaneers claimed victory with a 3-2 win, seizing the derby bragging rights.
As is tradition, a showdown between Pirates and Chiefs attracts notable figures from across South Africa, including luminaries from the entertainment industry and even the President of South Africa himself.
This past weekend, President Cyril Ramaphosa, accompanied by his Minister of Sports, Zizi Kodwa, were among the spectators, soaking in the excitement of the match.
During halftime entertainment, kwaito stars TKZee took the stage, evoking nostalgia with their rendition of their classic hit ‘Shibobo’.
Also on the lineup was gqom musician and iPlan hitmaker DJ Dlala Thukzin, and emerging Afro-pop sensation Zee Nxumalo.
