Former model, television presenter, stylist; and now trend forecaster and PR Director Nicole Ogle’s style stands out from any crowd. She shares with Nounouche her style influences and her day-to-day outfit inspirations.
You dress so well, who are some of your style influences?
- My mom – Her style is classic and a big inspiration to me.
- Victoria Beckham – I love how her style has evolved over the years similarly to my mine. From pop icon to fashion mogul – Victoria’s style is chic, effortless and modern minimalist.
- Olivier Rousteing – As Creative Director of Balmain I love his monochrome and gender-neutral looks. He knows how to elevate basics such as a blazer and jeans with a good quality white-tee and for ladies, just a killer pair of heels and you are good to go.
- Rich Mnisi – Locally, it would have to be Rich. He is currently my favourite style icon. His vision and creativity are light years ahead of the rest of the world. His ability to transform any outfit and give it his own personal style is really inspiring.
For me, style is innate, you cannot buy it. It is having a sense of what works and what doesn’t work for your body type.
We’ve witnessed you grow from being a TV personality, working behind the scenes and now making boss moves in the PR industry? Does being a creative influence your wardrobe choices?
Being a creative definitely influences my wardrobe selection. Yes, my style has evolved over the years from tomboy style to my creating effortless looks with a bright and bold colour palette which is more suited for any boardroom meeting or PR event. I’ve always tried to remain true to style through my wardrobe selection.
How long does it take you to get ready for work versus going out with friends, family or for industry events?
My Monday to Friday looks are all black outfits. This takes around minutes, unless it is an important in-person meeting; then plan my outfit the night before the meeting.
My Instagram page has become a visual reference for my entire wardrobe. Instead of going to look for an outfit in my cupboard, I scroll through my page to make my selection of what to wear for a social event or work meeting. This saves me a lot of time.
Colour seems to be a big theme for most of your Instagram posts. We love colour. What are some your favourite colours?
I love citrus colours: zesty orange, bright yellow and tennis ball green. Yellow is my favourite colour at the moment. We will see these colours coming through in most retail stores this spring.
Do you have any family members who influenced your love for fashion while growing up?
I don’t think there was anyone that was very influential in shaping my love for fashion. I think it was innate in me. My mom was a school teacher who would buy my clothes and ask me my opinion on how to wear them. She taught me to buy things that you could wear differently and in many ways. Thank you, Mom! However, I definitely think I have influenced the next generation in my family, especially my younger cousins.
