Staying relevant in the entertainment industry is very hard.

In the past we have seen some of our favourite media personalities come and go without a trace.

But that is not the case for veteran actress Tina Jaxa who is celebrating four decades in the entertainment space.

Speaking to Nounouche Tina explained how she managed to remain relevant, as she continues to be booked, even in the midst of a global pandemic.

“It’s looking back at the things that I took for granted, as I was one of those thespians that thought they had it all, the attention and the fame almost ruined me,” she said.

“It took many lessons to build this brand that everyone loves and adores today and the three most important and crucial lessons that I learnt were to respect the craft, remain professional and forever be consistent,” she said.

Tina also shared that remaining true to herself is also one of the things that has helped her remain relevant as it makes it easier for her to be relatable to everyone that watches her on screen.

With all the knowledge that she gathered, the seasoned actress exclusively shared with Nounouche that she’s now doing behind the scenes work.

“When on a set you would hardly find me sitting down with other actors and because of that I was able to gather a lot of knowledge by engaging with different people.”

“That has since paid off as now I’m a producer and working a production that’s going to blow everyone’s mind, we need to be thirsty for knowledge as it is power, ” she continued.

Although she’ll be doing behind the scenes, Tina also said that she won’t leave acting completely as acting is a spiritual thing for her – a God-given gift.

Currently she portrays the role of Norma on SABC 1’s hit drama series Makoti alongside the likes of Sdumo Mtshali and Kennedy Stab.

To prepare for the role, Tina shared that she set a space to connect with the character spiritually to introduce herself and as well learn their traits but most importantly, to ask for guidance so that she can portray it in the best way.
