World-renowned actress Zethu Dlomo has scored herself a major acting gig.

The talented actress is set to lead a star-studded drama series Isibopho that is set to exclusively air on Mzansi Wethu.

According to the producers of the show the drama series will follow the life Thandi Ndlovu played by Zethu Dlomo, who is forced to culturally marry her brother-in-law after her  beloved husband and father-in-law are murdered.

This is a common cultural practice called  ‘ungeno’ – when a widow marries her late husband’s close relative in order to stay in the family.

The producers of the show further told Nounouche that the show will be filled with many twists and turns as it is driven by distorted family dynamics caused by greed and obsession with money.

This is because after the murder of Thandi’s husband she was left with the Ndlovu family inheritance. Being in possession of this inheritence put her life in danger due to her new husband and former brother-in-law Sgoloza  and his mother, Onica, the classic matriarch who will do anything and sacrifice anyone for what she believes belongs to her family.

The showrunners of the show further revealed to Nounouche that while the concept of the family at war is at the heart of Isibopho, the show also takes us into the murky and dangerous worlds of fafi/ mochina (a form of gambling based on dream interpretation) and rhino horn smuggling.

If you don’t know know the lead actress of the show Zethu, she is best known for her role in the US historical adventure series Black Sails,  and she will star alongside seasoned actors Slindile Nodangala, Sicelo Dlamini, Jerry Mofokeng, Lerato Makhetha and Dineo Lusenga.

Isibopho, premiering on Mzansi Wethu (DStv Channel 163) every week from Sunday 10 July at 21h00.
