After fifteen years of making people dance, internationally acclaimed musician Zakhele Madida, better know as Zakes Bantwini, is set to retire from the music industry later this year.
According to the talented music producer who shook the music scene with the release of his hit song Osama, he is going to close off his music career with an album release titled ‘Abantu‘ in November.
“This album follows his largely successful multi-platinum selling album ‘Ghetto King’ that features hits such as Osama, Imali and Girl in The Mirror,” the statement reads.
The statement further went on to say that upcoming album will be commemorated by a music concert that will take place in Cape Town at the DHL Cape Town Stadium.
“Zakes Bantwini will be joined by his industry colleagues as well as a star-studded line-up of top South African recording artists, alongside international guest appearances,” it continued.
Zakes who is gunning for Male Artist of the Year at the South African Music Awards also sat down with eNCA’s Heidi Gioks and told her that after the release of the album his main focus will be on his studies as well as family.
“I’m finishing my qualification at Harvard, which will be next year June, and I’m concentrating on family; I’m also doing a lot of business. We want to be one of the biggest agencies in Africa.”
Although he revealed that he will miss being out performing each and every weekend, Zakes shared that he was once told that it is better to quit while you are still on top, and he’d like to do that.
