Trivia, Twists, and BBC Brit: My Night at the Ultimate Quiz Experience with VitaminQ

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good quiz night. Ever since I first joined VitaminQ’s trivia evenings at The Royale last year, I’ve been hooked. So when I got an invite to their special BBC Brit edition on October 31st, I was more than a little excited.

The event was held at The Wild Side in Johannesburg, and from the moment I walked in, I could tell it was going to be a fun night. The atmosphere was lively, with teams chatting and laughing, ready to test their knowledge.

What made this quiz night extra special was the BBC Brit twist. Alongside the usual trivia rounds, they incorporated live-action versions of popular BBC game shows like Deal or No Deal, The Chase, and Would I Lie to You? It was such a clever way to bring those shows to life and add a new layer of excitement to the evening. Our team was feeling confident. We’ve always enjoyed the general knowledge rounds, and this night was no exception—we did really well!

Answering questions, debating answers, and celebrating when we got them right reminded me why I love these events so much. But the highlight was definitely the game show segments. Playing Deal or No Deal had everyone on edge, choosing briefcases and hoping for the best. The Chase put our trivia skills to the test against a “Chaser,” which was both challenging and thrilling.

And Would I Lie to You? had the whole room laughing as we tried to bluff our way through outrageous stories. It was such a unique experience, blending the comfort of a familiar quiz night with the excitement of a live game show. Even though we didn’t win the grand prize, the evening was so enjoyable that it hardly mattered.

The camaraderie, the laughs, and the shared love of trivia made it a night to remember. It felt like we were part of something special, a community brought together by curiosity and a bit of friendly competition.I can’t help but hope that VitaminQ considers making this BBC Brit-themed quiz night a regular event.

One night just didn’t feel like enough, and I think more people would love the chance to experience it. If you’re a fan of trivia, game shows, or just looking for a fun night out, I highly recommend keeping an eye out for their next event.

And if you’re interested in the shows themselves, you can catch The Chase, Deal or No Deal, and Would I Lie to You? on BBC Brit, DStv Channel 120. But trust me, nothing beats experiencing a little bit of that game show magic in person.
