We attended the launch of The Real Housewives Of Johannesburg Season 3 at The Marriott Hotel, Melrose Arch where the first episode was screened to an excited crowd! The Real Housewives of Johannesburg has established itself as a cultural phenomenon, captivating viewers with its larger-than-life personalities, glamorous lifestyles and fashion.
Nicole ‘Nicci’ Watson, Keabetswe Marema, Mamus Koka, Thobekile Mdlalose have joined the cast of the RHOJ. Returning back to our screens is Lethabo ‘LeJoy’ Mathatho and Lebo JoJo Mokoena who are no rookies when it comes to navigating the limelight and are here to serve us everything we’ve been anticipating since the end of season two which ended in January 2020. Respectively, the cast members embark on a journey of healing, financial freedom and womanhood. Of course when it comes to drama, all the ladies know how to win the viewers attention.
Speaking to us about the show, Sonia Mbele, the executive producer said, “The third season of the Real Housewives of Johannesburg has long been anticipated by fans of the franchise across Africa, and we’re excited to finally bring it to your screens. I feel like the previous seasons set the tone and this season explores and unpacks a lot more.” For the most part, Sonia Mbele touched on how she sees the show as more than just intriguing entertainment for viewers. “I’m always about empowering women and this franchise has been a great way to do just that. Empower!” she added.
If you’re anything like me, your first question when attempting to reflect on the seasons of the real housewives — it is usually something like “Wait, what the hell just happened!?” Perhaps one of the biggest thrills on RHOJ is seeing the fierce collapse of friendships, the vulnerability of the cast and how they navigate their everyday lives.
Keabetswe Marema, whose dynamic personality cannot be missed, highlighted how her family keeps her grounded and that she’s excited that they were a part of her journey in the filming of season 3. “What people can expect to see from me is definitely authenticity, drama, motherhood and so much more.” She said that the viewers are going to enjoy getting a closer look inside her life, from watching her face her deepest fears, her love life and to laughing at her wildest moments.
Love it or hate it, Lethabo ‘LeJoy’ Mathatho’s palpable confidence is sure to bring the drama to the show as it has been in the previous season. She is less inclined to hold her tongue this season. She mentioned, “I honestly think being a Real Housewife of Johannesburg means being a boss-babe, a glamorous hun and making that paper and that’s definitely my thing. The show has changed some parts of me and I can’t tell you if it’s in a good or a bad way. There’s a lot of self discovery and growth involved. This season, there’s so much fire I’m bringing on but you gonna have to watch to find out!”
Speaking to Londie London from The Real Housewives Of Durban, she said that she is cheering on the new and old cast members. She added, “I’m looking forward to seeing what the new and old cast has to offer us. Well, I’m hoping we’ll see more honest conversations, plenty of fun and laughter too!”
