Kwaito Star Magesh Has Passed on!

The late Kwaito sensation Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala.

Another icon has fallen.

Award-winning musician and producer Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala (45) has passed on.

The passing of the legendary artist was announced to through a statement.

“It is with great sadness that the family wishes to confirm the passing of Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala,” the statement reads

According to his family the talented super star passed on Monday, 15 August after experiencing an an epileptic seizure.

The family further told Nounouche that they are requesting for privacy during this difficult period and that all details pertaining to his memorial and funeral service will be shared in due course.

Magesh was part of the popular music group TKZee, which is a South African kwaito music group formed in 1990’s by three school friends, Tokollo Tshabalala, Kabelo Mabalane, and Zwai Bala.

The group shot to prominence in late 1997 and early 1998 with their chart-topping singles “Phalafala” and “Shibobo”.

Tributes and heartfelt message have been pouring in for the talented.

Orlando Pirates released a statement and said they are deeply saddened.

”Orlando Pirates football club is saddened by the news of the passing of the son of Mr Stanley Tshabalala, Tokollo. “

“Tokollo, who also goes by the name of Magesh, was a renowned musician, famously known for his song writing and being a member of the group TKZee.”

” We convey our heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the Tshabalala family and pledge our profound moral support,’’ read the statement.

SAMRO also released a statement and said: “It is with great sadness to note the passing of Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala.
Known affectionately as ‘Magesh’, Tshabalala passed away this morning as a result of an epileptic seizure.
He will be missed by his family, friends and fans. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
