Eat Your Heart Out

Here is a non-exclusive take on something that you too will relate with regardless of whether your heart is
claimed or not this Valentine’s Day – your heart’s health. I have a few pointers to ensure you live to see another
day, and hopefully, try again next year. 😉

Our bodies are an interplay of systems that all work in tandem to ensure we maintain the correct blood pressure
to pump blood into all the organs, have the correct amount of glucose to support organ function without jinxing
the flow of blood and maintained integrity of the organ and tissue structures required to achieve this harmonious
task.

Your heart is an important organ that silently makes you pay for your dietary and genetic sins later. To appease it,
feed your body with whole, well-researched food options to enable growing heart leniency in the long run.

 Whole foods – the more processed foods you consume, the higher the risk of developing chronic
illnesses.
 Fruits and vegetables (I will never get tired of preaching this!)
 Fibre to help with reduce cholesterol, promote digestion and prolong satiety.
 Low fat foods as these eventually lead to reduced cholesterol, weight and overall calories.
 Healthy fats that promote good cholesterol (HDL) and reduce bad fats like triglycerides, LDL and total
cholesterol.

To meet specific calorie intake needs and requirements curtailed towards specific goals, a dietician consult is
critical for optimal results.

At the heart of this brief intel was to uncover the basic dietary changes you can consider for a healthier heart. I
understand you have plans to set in motion for the weekend, whatever they are -you are alive and well. Sickness
continues to eat its heart out.
