Fresh off a draw against Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns’ left back Aubrey Modiba chats to us about his favourite music. 

Aubrey was born and raised in Mentz Matshelapata in Limpopo to what he describes as an idyllic upbringing.

“My upbringing was great because I believe I had the best childhood ever…” 

Asked about his pre-game rituals, Aubrey emphasises the power of prayer, he always prays before any game. The 27 year old is also father and he loves speaking to his son before getting on the pitch. What also gets him fired up for play is Emtee’s Logan. “That’s my song, it gets me in the mood before any game…” he says.

His favourite artist of all time is Lil Wayne! (Who can argue with that? Weezy F Baby is the best rapper alive).

Unlike many people who have had various career prospects, Aubrey has always set his eyes on football and wanted to be the best there is. The former Mpumalanga Black Aces and SuperSport star is thrilled to be part of a winning Mamelodi Sundowns and recently winning the league (6th consecutive season for Sundowns) is one of his highlights. 

In closing, we ask him if he were to host a themed party what would it be and who from his team would not adhere to the theme. “My ideal theme would just be an all-black party and I really think Siphelele “Blesser” Mkhulise wouldn’t dress accordingly…”
